UK Airports  in 2010 handled 209,152,092 passengers which helps to explain why airports have so much space devoted to car parking. An example of this is at Gatwick Airport that has 32,600 car parking spaces available.

UK Airport parking though is not cheap and the worst deals are for those who just turn up and pay the full list price! The good news is though that by booking early you can save as much as 65% as well as being assured of getting a place. If you want stress before the start of the holiday try turning up in the peak summer holiday period and find that there are no spaces in long stay and only availability is in a short stay car park at £30 per day!

When booking your airport parking you normally have a number of options and you can choose from the short or long stay car parks on the airport or an airport hotel  with car parking options that is ideal if you have an early morning flight and would prefer to relax the night before or some airport parking companies have offsite car parks (normally 10/15 minutes from the airport) which will work out cheaper and they will shuttle you to your terminal.

A recent development and one of our favourites is meet and greet and this is available at most UK airports. An example of how this works is at Manchester airport, 15 minutes from the airport call the number you were given when booking, then drive to the departures terminal drop off zone and they will be there to collect your car so all you do is remove your luggage and walk into the terminal. When you arrive back phone them from the luggage hall and they will be outside the airport terminal with your car. So easy and no messing about getting airport buses and much quicker.
