Welcome to TRAVELINSURANCESHOP.ORG.UK

Overview

The Travel Insurance Shop is an independent resource for those looking for travel insurance. We are not owned by any insurers or travel shops and do not favour any insurer over another (unless the product they offer is better) like they incorporate Egypt under their European policies. We have looked at the leading providers of travel insurance and show what they offer e.g age restrictions and policy options. You are then free to compare them and decide who is most suitable.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

Travel Insurance is not something many people have paid much attention to until recently, but the winter snow and volcanic ash clouds means we have all heard horror stories of  holidaymakers having to pay out a lot of money unexpectedly. People spend spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on their holidays, but seem to begrudge a few pounds being spent on travel insurance.

Many people seem to think they do not need travel insurance but the financial cost of not having it can run into £1,000's as what happens if you have to cancel your holiday at the last minute or fall seriously ill abroad and need to be repatriated back to the UK?. It is a small cost in the overall cost of a holiday and even an EHIC will not give you total protection as the lady who travelled to Corfu found out earlier this year when she could not find the £16,000 required for an air ambulance having fractured her spine on holiday. With travel insurance this would not have been a problem.

A typical Travel Insurance policy should include loss or theft of personal possessions and baggage, cancellation or delay of your trip (for example if you suffer a family bereavement), legal costs in case of injuries or accidents, medical expenses and emergency transport home, personal liability, personal accident cover and a 24 hour emergency helpline. Recently some companies have also started offering cover for financial failure of airline or accomodation providers.

Choices of cover available includes Single Trip which is ideal if you only plan to travel once a year, Annual Multi Trip which covers you for more than one trip each year. To keep the costs down if you only intend to travel in Europe you can choose a policy that covers European Travel only or for those who prefer to travel further afield you can choose a worldwide policy with or without cover for the USA, Canada and Caribbean. A range of specialist products are also available like Gap Year/Backpackers cover, Golf Cover, Business Cover and Winter Sports Travel Insurance.

Don't forget by booking early you can save on airport parking, airport lounges, airport hotels and car hire and more details of these can be found at the travel insurance shops holiday shop.  Read reviews of the travel insurance provided by companies like Liverpool Victoria, More Than and Easyjet.

Fortunately we have found a company that classifies all 3 under its Europe policy saving yoiu money!  Details can be found here

Travel Insurance for those over 70!

Independent Traveller

Many travel insurance policies don't cover cancellation due to British Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) advice, insolvency of airlines or denial of boarding which is important cover if you've booked flights and accommodation separately (rather than through a tour operator) as you may not be covered by your tour operator either . Independent Traveller covers them all. Details on a leading insurer offering it as an optional extra can be found here
